Kevin Johnson sworn in as 24th Tazewell County State's Attorney

It was an honor to be sworn in as the 24th Tazewell County State's Attorney on December 1st. Thank you to my family, friends and colleagues who attended the ceremony and especially he citizens of Tazewell County who granted me the privilege.

East Peoria Council Meeting- September 20th, 2022

Kevin speaks at the recent meeting of the Tazewell County Republican Women

The motto of the Tazewell County Republican Women is "Educate. Empower. Encourage." I was honored to be invited to give a presentation on the SAFE-T Act to these dedicated and motivated women on September 12th. If you are interested in bettering your community through the political process, please consider joining this worthwhile, and fun, organization.

Kevin Johnson slated for Tazewell County State's Attorney

On April 8, 2022, Resident Circuit Judge Gilfillan retired and State's Attorney Umholtz ran unopposed in the June primary to fill Judge Gilfillan's seat. Being unopposed in the November, 2022 general election, on July 11, 2022,  State's Attorney Umholtz submitted his resignation as Tazewell County State's Attorney effective on or about November 30, 2022. Due to the timing of State's Attorney Umholtz's resignation, his position would have to be filled through the slating process. At the Tazewell County Republican Convention on July 27, 2022, I was slated by the Republican precinct committee persons to be the Republican candidate for State's Attorney in the November, 2022 general election.

On August 23, 2022, the Illinois Supreme Court appointed State's Attorney Umholtz as the Tazewell County Resident Judge as of September 19, 2022 and on August 23, 2022, the Tazewell County Board passed a resolution appointing me as the interim State's Attorney as of September 19, 2022.
